Uganda: Parliamentary Fee constituted – Africa.com

The Parliamentary Fee, established beneath Article 87A of the Structure, has been totally constituted with the endorsement of the Chief of the Opposition and 4 again bench Commissioners.

Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi takes up the mantle of the Chief of the Opposition, changing Hon. Mathias Mpuuga.

Mpuuga will now function a backbench Commissioner of the Home representing the Opposition, alongside Hon. Solomon Silwany, Hon. Prossy Akampurira and Hon. Esther Afoyochan, who retained their positions as backbench Commissioners representing the ruling Nationwide Resistance Motion Social gathering.

Speaker Anita Amongst made the pronouncements through the plenary sitting on Tuesday, 09 January 2024 after each the Authorities Chief Whip, Hon. Hamson Obua, and the Chief Opposition whip, Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe formally offered the names of the workplace bearers.

Part 2 (2) of the Administration of Parliament Act offers for the composition of the Fee, the very best decision-making organ of the Legislature to incorporate: Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chief of Authorities Enterprise, Chief of the Opposition, the Minister chargeable for Finance and 4 Commissioners (Backbench Members of Parliament).

Hon. Elijah Okupa (Indep., Kasilo County) has taken up a place as a member of the board of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Affiliation (CPA).

In the course of the sitting, new management and membership of various Standing Committees of Parliament was constituted, with Hon. Medard Sseggona changing Ssenyonyi because the Chairperson of the Committee on Public Accounts (Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises – COSASE).
