The Orihuela Council has began a cleansing programme for ravines and gullies throughout the Orihuela Costa to stop the incidence of fires and floods brought on by an abundance of weeds which might be blocking these landscapes across the coast and that may pose a hazard.
The work is being carried out following the receipt of a subsidy of 66,000 euros from Emerge 2023 to hold out such actions that seem in emergency forestry plans or procedures.
The funds have enabled the Council to make use of 5 folks, a foreman and 4 forestry staff for six months full-time, who will perform the duty. They’re at present working within the Campoamor pine forest “chopping up and clear the world of fallen pine timber,” defined councillor Víctor Valverde. They may stay there for a number of days till such time because the duties are concluded.
In visiting the work the councillor was accompanied by the councillor of the Coast, Manuel Mestre, and the Campoamor pedaneo, Raúl Fernández.
