Nobody, nor any pets, have been injured throughout a suspicious home fireplace in Kelowna on Wednesday morning.
The fireplace occurred alongside the 700 block of Dougall Street South, with emergency crews being dispatched round 8:45 a.m.
The Kelowna Hearth Division says the fireplace occurred within the second flooring of the two-storey, single-family dwelling.
Hearth crews knocked the blaze down from the outside, then entered the house to extinguish it.
A pair residing within the basement advised International Information they have been alerted of the fireplace when the smoke alarm went off. They and their two pets evacuated the house and referred to as 911, whereas noting the upstairs tenants weren’t dwelling.
“The fireplace is taken into account suspicious in nature,” stated the fireplace division, “and is presently being investigated.”
The fireplace division, which responded to the incident with 4 fireplace engines and 21 personnel, reminded the general public that working smoke alarms save lives.
