A transgender lady is suing the Metropolis of New York for $22 million after she was positioned in a Rikers Island male detention heart, the place she was allegedly assaulted and harassed.

The lawsuit references the Jail Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003, which seeks to mitigate and eradicate rape incidents in correctional services.

The lawsuit doc, which was filed in August 2023 and obtained by Fox Information Digital on Saturday, establishes that Miles was born a organic man, however identifies as a transgender lady.

“[Miles] was raped/sodomized on two (2) separate events by the identical male inmate, was assaulted and battered by the identical male assailant inflicting fractured ribs, and suffered everlasting blindness as the results of being doused within the face with chemical compounds,” the doc says. “All of this brought about her painful and longlasting hurt.
